Penninsula Orchid Society's Show and Sale
Kick off 2010's show season with us in Redwood City, Ca. this year! If the San Francisco show is just too much of a madhouse for you, come to this one. You are actually able to visit with an exclusive group of commercial growers at their sales booths instead of being jostled about by the hoards. You will find a nice diverse group of vendors without so much chaos as with the huge shows. Check it out if you have not gone to this show before (penorchidsoc.org) and you'll soon see why there is such a dedicated group of attendees each year.

January 28,29,30& 31st., 2010
Silva Orchids' Open House
James always enjoys visiting with our orchid friends in New Jersey and New York-even if it means travelling in wintertime to do it! The Silva brothers are generation two for this venerated nursery and are respected for their expertise as growers of Catts. and Phals. They really pull out all the stops for their Open House weekend. Don't miss their sumptuous SUNDAY BRUNCH! Come in out of the cold into the greenhouses in Neptune, N.J. and take home something new----from California!!!

Newport Harbor Orchid Society
IT'S BACK! After many attempts, the Newport Harbor show is back on track and just in time for Chinese New Year AND Valentine's Day. YOU HAVE NO EXCUSE to skip this event, and we'll be there with all our 'bells' on to tempt you into filling your shopping crates. Think of the gas you'll save by not having to drive to S.B. (Besides, you'll no doubt be heading our way for the Santa Barbara Show in another month, anyway!) Plenty of FREE parking, no entry charges, and plenty of orchids!!

February 26, 27, 28th, 2010
Pacific Orchid Exposition - San Francisco, Ca.
Here is one of the 'grand-daddy's' of the orchids shows in the U.S. If you have never attended, try to schedule it in this year. The diversity and magnificent floor displays are only rivalled by the quality and quantity of plant on sale. AND if you are a wine lover, the preview party features boutique wineries pouring incredible wines unavailable commercially. This is really something not to miss!! On the Pier at Ft. Mason in the beautiful Marina District of San Francisco. Go to ORCHIDSANFRANCISCO.ORG for more info.

You'll be rejuvinated in no time, and ready to hit the sales hall (where we take a double-wide booth). We think the Santa Barbara Show provides growers of all levels with one of the widest assortment of orchidsfound anywhere. YES the nursery is open too, featuring lots of plants on special sale as well! San Diego Orchid Show
Another of our favorite shows. This is one of California's oldest orchid shows and held Hotel Circle at the Scottish Rites Temple where there is tons of free parking! We make a point to showcase orchids that do well outdoors in So. California. If this is your niche, gas up the minivan and load up with new colors of cyms., Aussie dendrobiums, and Laelia anceps hybrids.

March 27,28,29th., 2010
SEPOS Show, Longwood Gardens, PA.
Looking for classic elegance? Showy floor displays? Established commercial orchid nurseries loaded down with orchids for sale??? This is your show. The venue dates back to 1906, and the conservatory, where all the orchid displays are staged, took decades to complete by the Du Pont family. This is a national treasure, and attracts loads of visitors from all over the world even without an orchid show!

April 16,17,18th., 20010
Sacramento Orchid Society Show
Our newest 'favorite'! Last year was our first opportunity to participate at this show, and we look forward to scheduling it into our calendar permanently. This is a mid-sized show, and so again, that means you can visit with the growers at their sales booths comfortably about the plants they bring into the city for sale. The Sacramento Orchid Society really fills a void for orchid growers in 'gold country'. IF you live anywhere near Sacramento, make sure you make this springtime event! Besides, it is one of the last shows of the season!!

April 23,24,25th. 2010
Orchids at the Flower Fields!
This annual sale is held at the famous Flower Fields in Carlsbad, Ca. & what a dramatic backdrop--acres of ranuncula all in bloom!! You have to see this rainbow of color to believe it. The only thing that rivals all that color is our sales booth full of our reedstem epidendrums all in bloom!! Take a steampowered locomotive tour thru the flowers, and then tip-toe over to the sales tent and load up with epis!! You're sure to find another color you don't have yet!

April 22,23,24,25th., 2010
South Coast Plaza Spring Garden Show

Roses, palms, plumerias, seeds, cuttings, flowering plants...If your spouse likes to garden and you like orchids, this is the sale weekend you'll BOTH love! The third floor is ALL ORCHIDS! Redland International Orchid Festival!!
Here is an opportunity for all SPECIES FREAKS to totally satisfy their insatiable thirst for new and exciting plants! The crowd of vendors is a great mix of growers from all around the world, so if you travel to this sales event at the world famous Fruit and Spice Park in Redland, Florida give yourself ample time to wander the outdoor sales area and visit with all the growers. Last year construction cut into parking etc., but that is over now, so it is smooth sailing for this spring!

San Jose Japantown Orchid Festival
The Miaido Club House on 6th. St. in Japan Town is the new location for this very unique sale. OPENING NIGHT is Friday from 6-9 p.m. and then the regular hours are all day, Sat and Sun. 9-5. This is the only sales event that features wine tasting and orchid skill sessions throughout the weekend. No more than 6 commerical nurseries are allowed to participate. San Jose needed an orchid event, and this has developed into a real gem!!

June 25, 26& 27th, 2010
J & L Orchids' 'Summer Thaw' Sale
Yes, it is off to 'lobster country' for us each June! And you thought we only travelled to sell orchids!? The girls at J&L continue to work hard to make this weekend unique for those of you on the eastern seaboard, and now they are hosting orchid societies who carpool, or bus it out for the weekend. It's a great chance to get together over our common love of orchids. Will your society plan on rolling out to the nursery too?

July 9,10,11th, 2010
S.B. International Orchid Fair
The premier summer event, for sure! This is huge, and not to be missed. The Orchid Fair at Earl Warren Showgrounds is where we take a free standing tent of our own and join dozens of other orchid vendors outside. At the nursery, we pick 250 avocados to make up our famous blend of guacamole for the weekend however, and provide live music as well! Sometimes we wonder if the guacamole and salsa are the main attractions, but we see so many holes on the benches, that we know the sale prices on plants are why everyone goes into the greenhouses after snacking!

July 23,24,25, 2010
SHORE ORCHID FESTIVAL, Silva Orchids, Neptune, New Jersey
Here's a new orchid venue to schedule on all our summer calendars! We've been lamenting the end of the Parkside Orchid Fest, but Silva Orchids has stepped up to the plate, and will host the very first of what will sure to be a popular sales event! There is plenty of property, so there will be separate tents for all the vendors. Rain or shine, Cal-Orchid will be there- along with around 20 other vendors! This is sure to be a fun tradition. Food will be available on site! Plenty of parking! Workshops!! No GIant Squid Attacks!!!!

Gauteng Orchid Show Pretoria, South Africa
Honestly, there is no place on earth as beautiful as South Africa and though it may be far away, it is certainly worth a trip. We expect great things for this show as it will be a practice run for the upcoming World Orchid Conference. The show will be great and after, there will be so many other things to see.
