Masdevallias, though often thought to be difficult, are definitely one of the most beautiful of all orchids. We have chosen to propagate only those varieties that are well known to be vigorous, and, as in the case of Masd. coccinea and Masd. veitchiana, the most spectacular of all Masdevallias.
The conditions for most Masdevallias should be shady, moist and as cool as possible. We find they do best for us out of doors in Southern California, although there are a few here (notably Copper Angel) that will do nicely as windowsill plants indoors. Abundant clean (drinking) water is always appreciated. All plants are nice large flowering size plants..

This native of Colombia is majestic in its own right. The flowers are large-more than 2" across, have very round shape, and are stunningly held on tall stems like bold flags. Unbelievably, they come in many, many colors ranging from purple through lilac, magenta, cerise and red. Also, there are a few yellow and white varieties. The best conditions for Masd. coccinea is cool and moist and any extra effort given towards this end will reward the grower mightily. Plants offered are multi-growth flowering size divisions.
