Neofinetia falcata (Fukiran) Show and Judging

It’s on for this year! Save the date. Details yet to come, but everyone is hard at work designing the agenda for the day. Summer Hummer at Cal-Orchid is again the location. Please consider CAR POOLS as parking for the weekend is going to be very tight. The main stretch of Orchid Dr. is off limits.

This event is exceptionally unique. For thousands of years, the Japanese culture has held its native orchid species, Neofinetia falcata in highest regard.
3 years ago, it was decided to spotlight the Japanese style of evaluating this species as judged in Japan. It is decidedly different from the criteria used by the American Orchid Society, and we think, quite interesting. So, Saturday afternoon there will be an informal (by Japanese standards) judging of Neofinetias for everyone to observe.

Watch the website when we get closer to the date for more specifics, but this is a popular aspect to the Summer Hummer and we are enjoying watching it grow!
Informal lectures will take place before judging.
Official judging will start at 2:00 PM. A discussion of the results will follow the judging.

Event is sponsored by the Fukiran Society of America

More details later. Stay tuned. SAVE THE DATE!!
